OSSci is creating the Map of Open-Source Science (MOSS), a new interface that will show science-related OSS projects, the associated research papers, and the people and communities behind both. Our goal is to improve discoverability of existing OSS tools and encourage community and collaboration at the earliest stages in the scientific research process.
Unlike previous mapping efforts that were often focused mostly on analysis and visualization, we envision a practical work tool with which scientists, developers, and other stakeholder can interact on a daily basis.
